1942 Printed Envelope From Neuengamme Concentration Camp
Product Description
"Over its years of operation, Neuengamme held approximately 100,000 to 106,000 prisoners, including about 13,500 women, who came from across occupied Europe. The inmate population included political prisoners, Jews, Roma (Gypsies), homosexuals, and others deemed undesirable by the Nazi regime.Conditions at Neuengamme were horrific, with overcrowding, poor nutrition, lack of medical care, and forced labor leading to widespread disease and physical abuse. Prisoners suffered severe beatings, arbitrary punishments, and were subjected to grueling work. Death was frequent due to executions, gassing, lethal injections, disease, starvation, and overexertion." Credit Wikipedia. Uses Hindenburg 12pf stamp. Roughly opened at right, otherwise overall good shape considering conditions this survived.
